School Buses Crash Near Selma; 27 Injured
SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A Johnston County school bus driver has been charged in connection with a wreck last week that sent 26 students to area hospitals, authorities said.

The state Highway Patrol charged Glendale Daniels with failure to reduce speed.

One school bus rear-ended another bus on Nov. 7 on the 1500 block of N.C. Highway 96 near Selma. Sixty-five students from Selma Middle School and Selma Elementary School were on the two buses at the time of the wreck.

Both bus drivers were pulled off their routes pending the outcome of a Johnston County Schools investigation into the crash. There was no word Tuesday on whether the drivers faced any disciplinary action.
