GARNER, N.C. — Police on Thursday charged a Raleigh man in a crash on U.S. Highway 70 Business in Garner last month that killed a woman.

Eric Adams of Raleigh was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in connection with the Aug. 17 crash.

Adams was driving a box truck on eastbound U.S. 70 Business when he hit a disabled Honda Accord sitting in the highway from behind, killing the Accord's driver, Lenae Mary Rebecca Dew of Raleigh, police said.

The truck then crossed the median into the westbound lanes, hitting a Toyota RAV 4 and a Honda Pilot, police said. Three women in those two vehicles were injured.
