Driver charged in Atlantic Beach wreck that killed Raleigh woman

Police on Monday charged the driver of a tractor-trailer in an Atlantic Beach crash that killed a Raleigh woman last month.

ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. — Police on Monday charged the driver of a tractor-trailer in an Atlantic Beach crash that killed a Raleigh woman last month.

Investigators said Sue Johnson Cross was crossing Fort Macon Road at West Drive on Nov. 9 when she was hit by a tractor-trailer that was turning at the intersection. Cross died at the hospital.

Michael Sharron Bowden, of Clinton, has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. He was driving a truck owned by Valley Proteins Inc. of Winchester, Va.
