Driver Charged After Pedestrian Dies

A Raleigh man has been charged after a pedestrian who was struck by a car on Tryon Road died, police said Friday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man has been charged after a pedestrian who was struck by a car on Tryon Road died, police said Friday.

Clarence Thomas Bridges, 73, of 2204 Trailwood Drive, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle in connection with a Wednesday incident on Tryon Road near Lake Wheeler Road.

A 38-year-old man was walking west in the roadway when he was hit from behind by a westbound car, police said.

The pedestrian later died at WakeMed. His name hasn't been released, pending notification of relatives.
