Burlington police said Ashely Downey, of Burlington, suffered a “medical event” while she was driving her 1990 Honda Accord on Trade Street, blacked out and ran into the corner of the Allied Churches Homeless Shelter about 9:45 a.m.

Downey had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Her car had about $3,000 in damage. The building, which was unoccupied at the time, received mostly cosmetic damage estimated at $10,000, police said.
