— Investigators said they identified the driver of a vehicle involved in the hit-and-run death of a teenager who was walking along a road outside Lumberton on Feb. 6.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol identified the driver as Michael Lenell Dortch, 45, of Lumberton. Dortch voluntarily turned himself in to investigators on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Highway Patrol. Dortch's 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor has been seized as well.

He should never have left the scene. No matter what happened, now he looks like a murderer.
How can anyone just drive off after hitting someone? Poor kid, he didn't deserve to die like this, and if the driver had stopped and called 911 he may have had a chance. Even if not, the family wouldn't have been put through the wait. Prayers for the family
