Raleigh, N.C. — A driver was charged in connection with a wreck on U.S. Highway 64/264 Bypass that closed the highway for more than an hour Thursday morning, police said.
A 1997 Nissan and a 1999 Ford were in slow-moving traffic trying to exit off U.S. 64/264 onto the Interstate 440 Beltline when the Nissan pulled in front of a tractor-trailer, police said. The truck braked suddenly and jack-knifed, hitting the Ford on the side and rear-ending the Nissan before flipping onto its side, police said.
All westbound lanes of U.S. 64/264 near the Beltline were closed for about an hour after the wreck, and traffic was diverted onto the Hodge Road exit, where they detoured onto Poole Road and New Bern Avenue.
Monique Michelle Foster, 26, of 1152 Rutledge Landing Drive in Knightdale, who was driving the Nissan, was charged with failure to yield right of way.
No injuries were reported.
