RALEIGH, N.C. — Light rain was falling across parts of North Carolina Saturday night, but an approaching cold front will soon bring cooler temperatures and clear skies, WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.

"We'll notice some big changes overnight," Wilmoth said. "A high pressure system that is in the Midwest today will be directly over North Carolina, and it's going to be bright, sunny and less humid on Sunday."

Daytime highs Saturday climbed to near 70 degrees despite the cloud cover, but overnight temps will fall into the 40s.

"Tomorrow should be a beautiful day with mild temps in the 60s," Wilmoth said. "This week is full of cold fronts. After each one passes,  the air will get cooler and cooler."

"Monday will be nice, and then our next chance of rain will move in on Tuesday and Wednesday," Wilmoth said. "By the end of next week, we could see daytime highs in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees."
