— Crews worked to fix a power line and a pole in downtown Raleigh early Friday before the morning's rush hour.

The crews blocked the left lane of South Dawson Street near West Cabarrus Street for a time, but they were able to clear out of the area by 7:30 a.m.

A police officer at the scene said a car hit the pole after losing control. No one was injured.

I catch stuff like that on here a lot, and also more now in the N&O. As it happens, I came upon this wreck about 30 seconds after it happened. It was a Toyota 4-Runner I think, and its front end was pretty well crushed, but the girl was out and talking on her phone.

Hit the poll??? Hit the poll?? WRAL, how do you allow things like this to happen over and over again? It's much better to be a little slower and make sure it's professionally done.
