Raleigh, N.C. — Father's Day was extremely hot and humid, and heavy evening showers are possible to accompany the sweltering heat.
According to WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth, temperatures will be remain hot into the night and be hot again Monday.
"We have the potential for rain and thunder again on Monday," Wilmoth said. "Monday is going to be another hot one."
Monday looks equally stormy and humid, with highs in the 90s and a large chance for scattered storms.
"The majority of those storms will be in the afternoon and evening as a cold front comes a bit closer to us," she said.
Wilmoth said there is the potential for severe weather with heavy lightning through all of Central North Carolina late Monday.
According to Wilmoth, the storms and heat will continue throughout the week, but temperatures could cool down by several degrees Tuesday.
A cold front will slow down and stall over the region, so the chance of rain will continue into Wednesday.
Wednesday will be partly sunny, warm and humid, with highs in the mid 80s. A few widely scattered showers and storms are possible.
The rain should finally stop Thursday with only a few spotty storms and hot temperatures.
The WRAL weather team is watching two tropical storms off the coast that could affect the area within the next 48 hours.
