DURHAM, N.C. — All lanes of N.C. Highway 147 in Durham were reopened before noon Friday after power lines were removed from the roadway, police said.

Duke Energy officials said the lines fell near Briggs Avenue after being hit by a vehicle overnight. Authorities closed the highway at about 4 a.m.

Northbound lanes reopened shortly before 11 a.m. Southbound lanes reopened about a half-hour later.

The downed lines left about 2,000 Duke customers without power Friday morning. Jeff Brooks, a spokesman for the Charlotte-based utility, said most would be back online by noon, although about 450 would remain without power until early afternoon.
