GARNER, N.C. — Garner Road was closed to traffic for more than two hours Tuesday morning after power lines were knocked down onto the roadway, authorities said.

A tarp on the back of a truck got caught in the power lines, causing two utility poles to snap, authorities said. Progress Energy officials said two customers were without power, but the power lines that run underground in the area and a cable line were also damaged.

Garner Road was closed between Jones Sausage and New Rand roads between about 8 and 10:30 a.m.
