RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation is working to fix some rough patches in the Fortify zone in Raleigh.

Spokesman Steve Abbot said crews would repave the far left and middle lanes on Interstate 40 between Lake Wheeler and Rock Quarry roads over the next week or so. Workers will also paint new lines so that drivers can better distinguish the different lanes.

More important than structural changes, Abbot said, is drivers who use caution through the construction area.

"It's a typical construction area where you have to pay extra attention," he said.
