DOT officials want feedback on proposed I-440 construction
State Department of Transportation officials will host a public meeting Monday to get the public's feedback and answer questions about a proposed project that would widen a 31/2-mile stretch of Interstate 440 from north of Wade Avenue to south of Walnut Street.

RALEIGH, N.C. — State Department of Transportation officials will host a public meeting Monday to get the public’s feedback and answer questions about a proposed project that would widen a 3½-mile stretch of Interstate 440 from north of Wade Avenue to south of Walnut Street.
The meeting will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Method Community Center Pioneer Building, at 514 Method Road.
The proposed construction project would widen a heavily-traveled stretch of roadway from two lanes to three in each direction, likely relieving some of the backups that often plague the area.
The proposed project, which has not been finalized, would include upgrades to interchanges, bridges and structures.
The tentative schedule calls for right-of-way acquisition in 2016 and construction starting in 2018, according to the DOT.
