DOT: Curvy road south of Fayetteville to be straightened out by 2017
A 4.4-mile stretch of a curvy road south of Fayetteville will be a lot straighter by early 2017.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced Friday that it has awarded a contract to straighten a portion of Tom Starling Road between U.S. Highway 301 and N.C. Highway 87.
The work will realign and resurface the road, straightening several curves.
DOT officials said the project will make it safer for drivers and businesses on the road. A bottling company, a recycling plant and other distribution centers are located on the road, and large trucks frequent the stretch.
Work, which will be completed by Highland Paving Company, of Fayetteville, is scheduled to begin in late June and expected to be done by January 2017.
