Clayton bank smash-and-grab burglaries
CLAYTON, N.C. — A man smashed the doors of two Clayton banks late Thursday and early Friday and stole a few hundred dollars in coins from one, police said.

Officers responded to an alarm at the KS Bank at 11591 U.S. Highway 70 Business shortly before 11:30 p.m. and found the door shattered. Bank officers said some rolls of coins had been taken, and police found some coins at the scene.

Police were called to the Wells Fargo bank at 1405 Executive Drive shortly after 8 a.m. and again found a shattered front door. Nothing was stolen from the bank.

Security tapes from the two banks show a man wearing a black cap, a black-and-gold coat, black pants, black boots, a white T-shirt and white knit gloves.
