Doughnuts, politics to clog Raleigh streets on Saturday
With two major events planned in downtown Raleigh Saturday morning, residents and drivers should be wary of making cross-town plans.
Posted — UpdatedThe challenge begins at 8:30 a.m. at the NC State Belltower on Hillsborough Street and winds runners on a round-trip route to the Krispy Kreme at Peace and Person streets and back. Thousands of spectators line the streets to take in the spectacle, which includes a costume contest.
An upper level disturbance moving in from the southwest has the potential to bring some rain, sleet and even snow showers to the Triangle Saturday morning, WRAL Meteorologist Mike Maze said.
"This system could produce a light dusting of snow on grassy and elevated surfaces, but by lunchtime the precipitation will come to an end," he said.
Temperatures will start in the mid-30s on Saturday morning, but climb to near 40 degrees by lunchtime.
