FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Fayetteville Police Department joined forces Thursday for the sixth annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail, a warrant-serving sweep by law enforcement.

The effort resulted in 83 arrests as law enforcement officers attempted to serve approximately 200 warrants, officials said. Charges ranged from domestic violence violations and misdemeanor simple assault, to failure to provide child support.

“No one should be a victim of domestic violence. Everyone should do their part to help break this growing cycle," Sheriff Earl R. Butler said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with the Cumberland County Alcohol and Beverage Control Commission, assisted with the sweep.
