Officials say a Fayetteville resident found the body of an 8-month-old black lab/shepherd mixed breed dog in McFayden Pond off McFayden Road in the Morganton Road area on Jan. 2.

Animal control officers are investigating and say the dog might have been intentionally drowned. Officials were withholding more details about the case to assist in the investigation.
