— A dog helped rescue two cats and 10 kittens that were placed inside a sealed container and left under a tree in Wake Forest.

Alley Cats and Angels, a nonprofit cat rescue organization, said Tuesday that the dog led its owner to the container, which was near the owner’s home. The cats and kittens were found Saturday.

“Fortunately for these cats, it was not a typical 90-degree July day, and the container was found in time to save the cats,” the organization said in a news release.

Both mother cats are young and very thin. The kittens are 5 weeks old and 8 weeks old. They are being treated for malnutrition, and some have severe respiratory infections, but their prognosis is good.

The animals will be available for adoption once they are healthy. For updates and pictures of the kittens, visit Alley Cats and Angels on Facebook. To help with donations, visit the nonprofit’s website.

There is more goodness in one paw of that dog than in the entire bodies, hearts, and minds of many, many people.

    Awwwww! What a sweet story!

Just proves that this dog is much smarter and caring than the human that put them there. With the way some people value the human life this is no surprise but only disgusting. What would really be a good punishment for anyone who would do this?

Who in the world would seal cats and kittens in a plastic container??? That is one of the cruelest things I have ever heard! I'm so glad they were rescued! Good job doggy!

I can not understand the mentality of some people. That was cruel and absolutely unnecessary.

Either the person or person who did that, did not know any better. (Which is a scary thought).
Or, they just did not care. I'm thinking the latter.

Glad the dog saved these kittens.

If you're gonna kill 'em, at least have the guts to look them in the eye when you do it.

Hope they find who did this and press charges.
