CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities arrested a man on Wednesday for his role in a sexual assault case that occurred on June 28, 2008, on Ft. Bragg Road.

Joshua Wade Watson, 30, of the 800 block of Farrior Road in Luverne, Ala., was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sex offense and first-degree kidnapping. He was apprehended in Luverne by Crenshaw County Police.

The victim in the case, 30, said she was sexually assaulted by two unknown suspects while she was in parking lot in the 3100 block of Ft. Bragg Road.

Fayetteville police investigated the incident but were unable to identify the two suspects and the case was inactivated.

Officials said DNA evidence led police to Watson and a second suspect—who is now deceased.

Watson was being held at the Crenshaw County Jail without bond and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
