District won't let Christian school use closed public school

RIENZI, Miss. — A northeast Mississippi school board remains unwilling to let a Christian school use a closed public school.
The Daily Corinthian (http://bit.ly/2pBbDif) reports the Alcorn County Board of Education refused Monday to remove a legal clause that bars the town of Rienzi (righ-EN-zee) from using the property for a school.
Mayor Walter Williams wants to lease the facility to Pathway Christian Academy, a religious school that had been based in Corinth.
Alcorn County closed elementary schools in Rienzi and Glen last year, and some people in Rienzi have been looking for another school for the town.
Williams say the town, which took the building from the school board not knowing it couldn't be used for another school, may sue.
