Dishwashers stolen from new homes in Hillsborough

Hillsborough, N.C. — Thieves who don't like doing the dishes are targeting homes under construction in Hillsborough, police said Thursday.
Nine dishwashers of various makes and models were removed from new homes in three construction sites between Feb. 23 and March 14, police said, noting that the break-ins caused more than $35,000 in damage altogether.
Two people were seen in the area of the break-ins last Friday night. Footage from a security camera shows one to be a heavy-set black man wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, a white T-shirt, gloves, dark-colored pants and boots. The second appears to be a short woman with dark hair wearing a dark-colored jacket and pants and walking with a limp to favor her right side.
Police said the pair may be driving a newer-model white minivan, possibly a Toyota Sienna, and a white Ford F250 or F350 Super Duty pickup with small lights on the roof and a toolbox in the truck bed.
Anyone with information about the break-ins or who can identify either of the suspected thieves is asked to call Investigator Scott Bilsky at 919-732-9381, extension 37, or email him at Scott.Bilsky@hpdnc.org.
