CARY, N.C. — Construction begins Monday on a $2.5 million project to replace the 60-year-old bridge on Green Level Church Road in Cary, the state Department of Transportation announced.
The roadway will be closed between Green Level West and Roberts roads until next April to accommodate the project.

Motorists traveling south on Green Level Church Road will be detoured right onto Green Level West Road, left on Wimberly Road, and left on Jenks Road to get back to Green Level Church Road.

Northbound drivers on Green Level Church Road will detour the opposite route.

Transportation officials said the bridge needs replacing because it can no longer handle traffic demands for the area. The bridge spans White Oak Creek.

Updated travel information is available by calling 511, visiting www.ncdot.gov/travel, following NCDOT on Twitter or downloading the department’s mobile app.
