Detectives seek new leads in unsolved Spring Lake deaths

Cumberland County sheriff's investigators are stepping up their efforts for new leads in three unsolved Spring Lake homicides over the past five years.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff's investigators are stepping up their efforts for new leads in three unsolved Spring Lake homicides over the past five years.

Detectives plan to set up a command post from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Skyland Shopping Center in Spring Lake in an effort to talk to anyone who might have information about the deaths of Jose Bogantes, William Simon or Angel Delacruz.

Bogantes, 19, was shot to death March 31, 2007, while he was walking along Wilson Avenue.

Simon, a cab driver, was reported missing March 21, 2008, and his cab and some personal items were found abandoned on Rosser Road.

Delacruz, 83, a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, was found dead inside his home at 210 Rose St. on Jan. 2.
