Detectives Arrest Accused Fayetteville Robber

Posted June 20, 2007

— A Fayetteville woman has been charged with robbing another woman after asking her for directions.

Samantha Owens turned herself in to authorites Tuesday, according to Cumberland County detectives.

Investigators said Lorie King answered a knock on her door from Owens on June 4. King said when she opened the door, she saw Owens with a towel on her hand.

King said she believed Owens had a gun, but it turned out to be a cell phone.

King said Owens wanted money to buy drugs. Authorities said Owens took the money and fled from the house.

Be careful what you wish on others people. Your path isn't set in stone. The universe has a way of bringing your wishes back to you.

I would rather she be charged for the crime do her time and then straight to a rehab center. Do not pass go and do not collect $100.00. Just jail alone - then released is not going to solve her problem. Just prolong it. Drugs and Alcohol abuse is a symptom of an underlying mental issue.

she was looking for help?? yeah help to buy drugs and i dont care if she doesnt "want" to hurt someone that doesnt mean if they refuse to give her money that she wouldnt people on drugs will do anything for a fix and she needs to serve her time. we cant say a murderer/robber or anything else needs to be set free because they turned themselves in

She will be charged with armed robbery. If the victim believes you have a gun; you do in the eyes of the law. Also, the fear that one goes through in this situation warrants a stiff penalty. All the soothe sayers here that feel sorry for the criminal haven't dealt with the same ones again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and agai, need I go on???????????????

Todays Fayetteville paper says that family members gave police her name. They were able to determine that it was her by a description of tattoos on her chest. She told the lady she needed $ for drugs and that she did not want to hurt her. Nevertheless, she deserves jail time but will probably only get probation, community service and rehab.

Whether she really had a gun is not the issue here. She threatened this lady with a gun. This is armed robbery as far as I'm concerned. Lock her up with the rest of the junkies and get her off the street.

ghimmy47 - I hope she comes to your door looking for help and not mine or my family. Good luck
    Poor poor lady

She most likely turned herself in because she knew that she will be caught. Let her do community service and get help for her drug problem.
