Detective: Sanford Woman Stole Californian's Identity

Posted April 21, 2008

— Investigators said a Sanford woman stole a social-security number belonging to a person in California and used it to get a job.

Petra Alonso Mozo, 29, of 213 E. Weatherspoon St., faces one felony charge of identity theft, said Sgt. Chris Perry, of the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.

The victim reported the identity theft to the Redwood City Police Department on March 1.

Detectives believe that Mozo had been using the victim's social-security number to gain employment since 2007.

Mozo was released on an unsecured bond. She was scheduled to appear in Pittsboro District Court May 12.

Yet another illegal stealing a SS # to try and stay here unnoticed. Like she's really going to show up in court. She's probably already relocated and stolen someone else's number.

Yeah, whose name/SSN is she going to use now? I am sure she will show up for her court date thought.....NOT!

"Mozo was released on an unsecured bond"

which means on her signature. Whose signature might that be???

I will be amazed that she will appear--but in the state of NC, bond is required/

This is too outrageous. I'm going to assume she's here illegally. Why else would she use someone else's SSN to gain employment? She was released on an unsecured bond. What? In hopes she would pull up and move somewhere else and steal someone else's identity and be another jurisdictions problem? Way to go!

Another Latino coming to the good old USA to make a NEW NAME for themselves.

She probably has a new name and number by now and surely won't appear on May 12.
