TROUTDALE, OR — Multnomah County deputies took two people into custody Monday after they allegedly broke into Reynolds High School in Troutdale.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the school in the 1600 block of Southwest Cherry Park Road around 3 a.m.
Deputies said a private security company called police after responding to an alarm on the property.
Deputies were able to hear the suspects in an area of the school currently under construction. A door accessing the area had been pried open.
The suspects were later identified as 58-year-old George Brooks of Portland and 34-year-old Ruben Bentz of Gresham.
With the help of Gresham, Fairview, and Portland police, deputies established a perimeter around the school. One suspect attempted to get away through an open field but was caught by a PPB K-9 officer. The second suspect was arrested by deputies.
Deputies found two wheelbarrows full of construction tools, ready to be taken away from the scene.
Both suspects were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
