Clinton, N.C. — Authorities have identified a Clinton man who was shot to death in front of his home Tuesday night.
Sampson County sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday that James Ray Carr, 29, of 17 Sylvia Lane, died in the shooting, which happened about 7:30 p.m.
Investigators said Carr was in front of his home when a man pulled up in a small car, got out and began firing an unknown weapon. When emergency personnel arrived, they found a family member trying to resuscitate Carr.
Investigators said they have not determined a motive for the slaying. Witnesses were unable to provide a detailed description of the shooter because it was dark at the time of the crime.
