Deputies find wanted Johnston man hiding in dishwasher

Posted October 31, 2012

— A Johnston County man wanted on a child support violation was arrested last week after deputies found him hiding in a dishwasher, authorities said Wednesday.

Deputies got a tip on Oct. 24 that Donald Robert Price Jr. was at his home on N.C. Highway 231 in Wendell, but they didn't find him in an initial search of the house, authorities said. A more thorough search led to the discovery of his hiding place in the dishwasher.

Price, 41, was served with an outstanding child support warrant and was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving, driving on a revoked license and failing to heed to a blue light or siren. The latter charges stem from an Oct. 9 incident in which a car allegedly driven by Price sped away from a deputy during an attempted traffic stop, authorities said.

Funny how if a guy loses his job and can't pay child support, he goes to jail. And of course, is seen as a bad person.

choose very carefully who you plant your seed in.

When everyone is smiling and so nice, you never know until the end. Be very watchful and careful. You are bound to see and observe something. They will allow you to see the other side.

fatchanceimwrong, you are right, and it goes to show you to choose very carefully who you plant your seed in.

With locking the father up, he will never be able to pay child support in that manner. Mean while, does the mother have a job? If not she should. Its her child too and should take the responsiblity of getting a job if she does not have one. Will the child benefit from all the money or another scheme the mother will spend on herself or boyfriend. Happens all the time, and you wonder why the fathers don't pay up. there are many reasons.

I guess he was trying to come clean before getting arrested.
It's a shame when a so called parent refuses to pay support for their children, but will buy a motorcycle, take vacation trips with their girl/boy/friends and let their children do without. All the while PRETENDING to be a loving parent. They need to be Tarred And Feathered and made to walk through their town/city with a sign saying, I'm A Loser and A Dead Beat Parent. And let people throw rotten eggs at them, all while being filmed for the 6:00 news.

Gosh, he must be a really small man and know how to fold that body. I would love to have seen a picture of that. LOL

The whole NC child support / custody system is not fair to fathers. NC's decision on court-ordered custody almost always favors the mother by awarding mothers primary custody and the father visitation. Their standard schedule for dads is every other weekend and one weeknight every other week. Fathers pay according to the calculator that is based on this schedule.

Now, if the mother remarries or shacks up, that man has no financial obligation for the kids, though he gets the benefit of having them in his life much more than the father. So now the mother again has 2 incomes coming into the household plus the child support payment and they are living well. The father is now having to pay all of his bills & expenses out of his check after the child support is taken out, unless he gets remarried or shacks up.

It's not a balanced system. Fathers who do the right thing are lumped in the child support "enforcement" system that is aimed at deadbeats.

They should have left him in there and turned it on. This guy had more troubles than just child support. But I have see cases where it's a hopeless downward spiral for men who can't make huge child support payments. Sending someont to jail because they can't find steady work just makes the problem worse.

What about the dads that have money for brand name clothing and expensive houses and pay very little for three children.

In my opinion, the children come first always.
