— A Johnston County man threw boiling water on his wife during an argument last Friday, according to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said that Orlando Stewart Crank, 47, then beat his wife with a metal baseball bat, flowerpot and vase at their Primrose Lane house, outside Clayton. She was treated at WakeMed in Raleigh for second-degree burns, lacerations and bruises and received seven staples for one cut.

Crank faces three assault charges. He was placed in the Johnston County jail and denied bond.

Crank was on probation for a July 2011 larceny conviction and has spent more than 15 of the past 25 years behind bars, including one 10-year stint for a habitual felon conviction, according to state Division of Correction records.

His criminal records includes 29 convictions dating to 1986, mostly on break-in and theft charges.

If a stranger had beaten this woman with a baseball bat, flower pot and then tossed boiling water on her do you really believe they would only be charged with "assault"?

I'm thinking he should be charged with a "Hate Crime" and tack on "Attempted Murder" for good measure...

"...His criminal records includes 29 convictions dating to 1986, mostly on break-in and theft charges."

Oh but let's give him the benefit of the doubt...he can be rehabilitated...let's keep him out on the streets so he can end up murdering someone someday. (SARCASM)

WGCFV- This had nothing to do with VOTING but since you brought I felt the need to address it! Why did you assume he would vote for President Obama? Because he was black, african american or etc. But if you read the article and new a little about the law he is not entitled to VOTE BECAUSE IT A CONVICTED FELON! So don't worry he has no rights which he deserves non because he has not cared him self as man should. Everything that is wrong in America is not the Presidents fault or the former Presidents it's because of some people think they know it all, some think they are entitled to more than others.

With Mr Crank in jail, that will be 1 less vote for Obama this fall.

He'll be back in Clayton shortly, soon as his wife doesn't show up for court.
