WAKE COUNTY — The Wake County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday announced the recent arrests of two brothers for a homicide that happened more than a decade ago.
William Otis Bryant, 40, and Eric Reney Bryant, 39, are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Anthony Jaboin.
Sheriff Donnie Harrison said the arrests show that despite the time that passes, no case is truly "cold."
"It shows that we're continuously working on these cases. It shows the public we don't give up," Sheriff Donnie Harrison said.
"You never know when the break's gonna come. I won't get into specifics 'cause there may be other charges, but last summer we got some leads and we continued to follow up on it," he said.
Jaboin, a cab driver, was shot in the parking lot of West Lake Elementary School, at 4499 West Lake Road in Apex, on Sept. 11, 1999. A woman passing the school heard a gunshot and reported it to police.
William Bryant was in custody in a Hyde County jail on drug charges. Eric Bryant was found in Washington State, in custody, also on drug charges. He has since been extradited to the Wake County jail. Both Bryants were being held without bond.
