FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — An abandoned Fayetteville church will be razed after a Superior Court judge ruled Thursday that he couldn't save the building.

City officials said Trinity Baptist Church on Hillsboro Street isn't structurally sound and is beyond repair, and they ordered its demotion in October.

Local developer Brian Watson, who bought the property last May, wants to fix up the property and sought an injunction against the city to spare the building from the wrecking ball.

Judge Greg Weeks ruled that Watson didn't appeal the city's condemnation order when it was first issued, so the court cannot hear his case.
