Deep fried pizza is better than it sounds

At first, I was skeptical, but WRAL's Ken Smith told me it was worth checking out. And Ken knows fair food.

Pinkston Ent. decided to start selling the pizza this year as an alternative to the sweet Elephant Ears they already have on the menu.

The entire pizza isn't deep fried. It's just the dough - basically the elephant ear dough - deep fried and then topped with marinara sauce and parmesan cheese.

There is a little sweetness to the dough that goes so well with the sauce and cheese. The crust is like a giant buttery breadstick. At $7, it's big enough for you to share with a friend or after a really bad day just eat the entire thing yourself.
