FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County Animal Control officers are looking for answers after a dog was found dead on the side of the road last month.

Authorities said that a black female Rottweiler mix was found dead on May 28 inside a black wire crate on Columbine Road, next to a communications tower.

The dead Rotweiler was discovered by a man walking his dog in the area.

Animal Control Sgt. Christy Burns said the animal appeared to have been dead for several day but looked as though it was previously healthy, with a good weight and well-maintained coat and nails.

Anybody with information is asked to call Animal Control at 910-321-6936.
