CARY, N.C. — We've said it before and we'll say it again – Dave and Buster's is like Chuck E. Cheese's with a bar!
The popular bar/grill/arcade opens its first location in the Triangle on Wednesday at Cary Towne Center mall. The Out and About team got a chance to check it out yesterday. Here are some of the highlights you will want to check out:
Food: D&B has fresh takes on the traditional bar and grill fare. Some of our favorites include the South Philly burger (big enough that you will have to take half home with you), the addictive pretzel dogs (hot dogs rolled in tasty pretzels and served with a spicy sauce) and mouthwatering Buffalo wings.

Dessert: It needed its own bullet point because the options are more than just your typical ice cream sundaes and chocolate cake. We got a chance to sample their sugared donut holes and Banana's Foster Pie, but what truly stole the show? The Triple Layer Chocolate Cake and the Belgian Chocolate Fondue (served with marshmallows, graham crackers, strawberries, bananas, brownies and pound cake). We definitely suggest the fondue for groups because it is big enough to share!
Drinks: We also got a chance to check out their signature cocktails, which included the Candy Shop (which contains Sour Apple Pucker) and the D&B TNTea (their take on the classic Long Island Tea).
Watch a game: They have three giant video screens in the bar area to watch sports and during big games like Monday Night Football they will give lucky patrons a chance to spin the video wheel for a chance to win prizes for themselves and their table. There are also tons of TVs above the bar for folks to pull up a chair and watch several games at once.

Dining: If the bar isn't your scene, there is a dining room across the venue and two meeting rooms for private events.
Games: If you are anything like us, you can't wait to hit the arcade. With 140 games on the floor, you can test your skills at classics like skee-ball and air hockey or the new Pac-Man Battle Royale, where up to four players have the ability to dine on their fellow Pac-Men! We tried this one and it was so much fun!
Other games you need to try:
Cut the Rope, Fruit Ninja and Doodle Jump – Play these popular mobile apps on huge touch screens.

Dark Escape 4D – This is seriously intense. In this two player game, you can see and feel the zombies thanks to 3D glasses and air machines that blow puffs at your face. It is a sensory overload. You feel like the zombies and monsters are right in your face. The handles on the gun in the booth keep track of your heart-rate so you can see just how scared you really are. Some people have even jumped out of the booth during the game, so be careful! (Kathy's tip: I tried it and I can say that I ended up leaning to the side to avoid the blasts of air. That helped me focus a little better and not be as scared!)
Connect 4 – A huge version of this family-favorite game is set up near the back. Definitely check it out!
Blackout – Throw a cute little monster at the darkened sun to win tickets.
NASCAR coin machine – It is a NASCAR take on this popular casino game where you drop coins down in an effort to knock down more coins. (Kathy's tip: Timing is everything. I won thousands of tickets playing this. I think I might be addicted!)

Dave and Buster's officially opens at 11 a.m. Wednesday. It will be open seven days a week – 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. It has an external entrance but you can also get in from inside the mall.

Also at the Cary location, every Wednesday features half-price games.

Have you been to a Dave and Buster's before? What are your favorite games?
