NEW BERN, N.C. — A Louisburg man was sentenced Thursday to more than 22 years in federal prison for trading child pornography, authorities said.

Bruce A. Howard, 55, worked as a dance instructor in studios in Zebulon, Wilson, and Knightdale before his 2011 arrest, authorities said.

The State Bureau of Investigation developed a lead two years ago that someone in Louisburg was sharing child pornography over the Internet, and they traced the activity to Howard. A search of his home and computer turned up numerous images and videos of child pornography, including images depicting the sexual abuse of prepubescent children.

Investigators also determined that Howard had induced a child to create and send pornographic images to him and had engaged the child in a discussion about engaging in sex acts, authorities said.
