Damp, humid air to stay put as front approaches
Damp, humid conditions will stay put across the Triangle Tuesday night into Wednesday, and although an approaching front will bring cooler air to the region, it won't provide any relief from several straight days of clouds and rain.
Posted — UpdatedWednesday will mark the seventh straight day that showers will dominate the weather forecast.
Moisture flowing into the region all day Tuesday will continue to move through the area Wednesday as a cold front approaches slowly from the north and west. Highs Wednesday will once again be in the upper 70s and low 80s.
"We've got one more day of intense humidity, and then it will be gone," WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said. "But we're not going to get rid of the rain anytime soon."
After the front moves through and stalls along the coast, rainy conditions will combine with much cooler temperatures – highs on Thursday and Friday will be in the mid-and low 60s.
Cool, wet weather will stay put over the weekend, likely having a big impact on outdoor events.
"It could be the beginning of next week before we see sustained sunshine again," Maze said.
