FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Drivers in southern Wake County will be searching for detours as crews work to repair a damaged pipe.

Heavy rain that fell in early April damaged a pipe under Johnson Pond Road, and officials were forced to close the road between Brozak and West Oaks drives.

State Department of Transportation officials set up a detour that takes drivers on to Hilltop-Needmore, Lake Wheeler and Optimist Farm roads.

The damaged pipe should be replaced by the third week of May, according to the DOT.
