Raleigh, N.C. — A Wilson County man accused of injuring his 10-year-old daughter while he was allegedly driving under the influence of prescription medication faces another charge in connection with the Nov. 21 wreck.
In addition to charges of driving while impaired and misdemeanor child abuse, court records show the North Carolina State Highway Patrol charged Walter Thomas McKeel on Nov. 25 with one count of felonious serious injury by a vehicle.
Investigators said McKeel's car flipped several times on U.S. Highway 64 near Wendell after he looked back to talk to his daughter, lost control and ran off the road.
Court records show McKeel, 42, of Stantonsburg, was also arrested in April on charges of DWI and misdemeanor child abuse.
In that case, a witness reported that McKeel was turning into a parking lot on Leesville Road when he rear-ended two other vehicles.
