— Customers were evacuated after a fire Monday evening at the Golden Corral restaurant, at 6129 Glenwood Ave. in Raleigh.

Investigators said an electrical failure with one of the restaurant's outside neon sign sparked a fire at about 7 p.m. that spread to the restaurant's roof.

A passerby noticed the blaze and alerted restaurant managers.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The fire resulted in minimal damage to the restaurant, investigators said.

The restaurant should reopen Tuesday.

I really do like Golden Corral sometimes...the food is okay and
the salad bar is pretty good. They are the only place that puts baby corn on the salad bar (MMMMM!) I too am glad everyone is okay.

for the record, that is the BEST golden Corral in our area. GC headquarters is right down the road on glenwood and I think they stop by often. So if you were ever going to eat at one, the one right next to the president is the one to pick.
