I have been carrying a weapon for over 35 years and have only had to actually use it once. That was enough. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if it never left the holster again except for cleaning and practice.

about time someone steps up...this nonsense has got to stop.

Walking in on an "armed" robbery unexpectedly can instantly change the dynamics of the situation given the feeble mind of most robbers. The robber did not expect to be confronted with another witness - much less an armed one. I would imagine the robber is already nervous and not a safe gun handler...we already know he is a criminal and a person that will rob you, will kill you. All the customer did was react to the situation presented to him (or her). Fear for your life, or that of another, is as good a reason to stop a threat as I know of. And the being sued issue - I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by six. There are not many facts reported in this story, but I'm happy with the outcome.

Fantastic job gun owner. We need so many more like you and the thieves will think twice before robbing.

Yep it should be a requirement for your personal safety. It helps insure your safety. So if you don't own one then you have to pay a "tax" for not having one.

Maybe they could just read your report.

    A) A customer was in the store.
    B) A perp came in to rob the store carrying a handgun
    C) Perp was shot by customer.

This is mysterious to G PD?

That makes more sense! Sorry, I wasn't thinking of it that way

  • bombayrunner Jul 3, 5:42 p.m.

oh sorry, what I mean is to just sit there and 'point' your weapon (train it) at someone and say 'freeze' or something stupid.

Yes one should practice at the range to keep up your skills and be used to using your firearm. Else you will shoot yourself in the foot if good help us it ever needs to be used for anything but target practice.

  • ewcheercoach Jul 3, 5:16 p.m.

bombayrunner- I don't understand the told never to train part. I was told that if you don't practice using your weapon, it won't do you any good in a crisis situation.

Why isnt this on the front page. Andy Griffith would be proud.
