Deputies: Customer shot Fayetteville auto shop owner

An automotive shop owner was shot by a customer Saturday morning, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — An automotive shop owner was shot by a customer Saturday morning, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.

Leslie Allen, 28, owner of Lucky’s Automotive at 3562 Gillespie Street in Fayetteville, was shot in the stomach by Elbert Terrell, 28, after a dispute over a car, deputies said.

The argument was over parts that were taken off a car that Terrell was interested in purchasing, deputies said.

Allen was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for his non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Terrell was later arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was held at the Cumberland County jail Sunday under no bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
