Cumberland school bus driver suspended after DWI charge
A Cumberland County school bus driver charged with drunken driving has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of a school district investigation, officials said Monday.

Charles Wynn, 49, of 1899 Windlock Drive, was charged Friday with operating a school bus after consuming alcohol, driving while impaired while operating a commercial vehicle and driving while subject to an impairing substance.
Police said another driver rear-ended Wynn's bus Friday afternoon near the intersection of Cliffdale and Pritchett roads. Officers investigating the wreck smelled alcohol on Wynn and performed a field sobriety test in which his blood-alcohol content registered a 0.20, police said.
North Carolina law considers drivers of commercial vehicles like school buses to be drunk when they have a blood-alcohol content of 0.04.
Wynn works as a night custodian at 71st High School and also is a substitute bus driver for the district, officials said. He was carrying 18 Lewis Chapel Middle School students home at the time of the wreck.
