FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — An on-duty Cumberland County sheriff's deputy and a Fayetteville woman both claim to have had green lights before a wreck Tuesday evening, police said.

A cruiser driven by Deputy Chance Williams turned left from Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway onto Bragg Boulevard around 8:45 p.m. as a 1992 Chevrolet SUV driven by Susie Epps, 53, was going northwest through the intersection. The two vehicles collided.

Williams and Epps were treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Williams suffered back pain and is recovering at home, sheriff's office spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said.

No charges have been filed as police continue to investigate the wreck.
