Fayetteville, N.C. — Cumberland County deputies were at a home south of Fayetteville late Monday to investigate the death of a 4-year-old girl that they deem suspicious.

First responders were dispatched to 4618 Elcone Drive at about 5:30 p.m. after a girl was found unresponsive. She was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she died.

The cause of death is unknown, and the girl's body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill Tuesday for autopsy, authorities said.

No other details were released.
