Posted October 10, 2013

— The Cumberland County public school system has named Mellotta B. Hill, principal of Howard Hall Elementary School, as principal of the year for 2013-2014.

Hill is a 20-year veteran who holds a master’s degree in school administration from Fayetteville State University, where she is currently earning her doctorate. Hill will compete for principal of the year for the Sandhills/South Central region of the state.
Hill said she works to motivate teachers, students and staff.

“I seek to create an environment where all stakeholders feel valued, appreciated and, most importantly, empowered,” she said in a statement. “Surrounding myself with competent, capable faculty members will enable our students to experience a quality educational experience.”
