Cumberland County schools names principal of the year

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — The Cumberland County public school system has named Mellotta B. Hill, principal of Howard Hall Elementary School, as principal of the year for 2013-2014.

Hill is a 20-year veteran who holds a master’s degree in school administration from Fayetteville State University, where she is currently earning her doctorate. Hill will compete for principal of the year for the Sandhills/South Central region of the state.

“I seek to create an environment where all stakeholders feel valued, appreciated and, most importantly, empowered,” she said in a statement. “Surrounding myself with competent, capable faculty members will enable our students to experience a quality educational experience.”
