Cumberland County Schools announces snow make-up days

Updated February 3

— Students attending Cumberland County Schools will make up four snow days as a result of last week's winter weather without going to school on Saturdays or losing time from their spring vacation.

The school system said Sunday that students will go to school on two teacher workdays. The other two days will be made up using time the school system banked by expanding the school day.

School leaders say students on a traditional school calendar will go to school on teacher workdays scheduled for Feb. 17 and March 26.

Students on a year-round calendar will make up days on Feb. 17 and March 14.

Students at Howard Health Academy will make up days on Feb. 17 and March 10, while students enrolled in early college programs and Alger B. Wilkins High School will make up days on Feb. 17 and April 18.

What happened to not having to make days missed if the governor declares a state of emergency?

Where ever did you hear such a thing? NC law dictates that students MUST attend classes for 185 days, or 1025 hours, no exceptions

Good idea, I have never support teacher works day, they are a waste of tax money and time. let teachers work a full eight hours each day. If they say they need time to get lessons done that what the weekend is for or like you give students home work.. When I teach at college I start at 730 and finish by 5 I have lessons planned in advance.

four days off for an inch of snow...what a bunch of clowns.

Wasn't the inch of snow. it was the repeated freezing of water into ice that made it dangerous for school buses to be on the back roads. I am orgignally from NY and we had crews and euipnment to clean up stuff like this, not so here in NC > do you want the state to buy more equipment and see taxes raised for an even that happens maybe every 5 years. Then you will whine about taxes
