Cumberland Co. student caught with gun at school

Darnell Handley Jr., 17, of 6976 Parkton Road, was arrested at 10 a.m. after Cumberland County deputies found a handgun under the seat of a black Acura parked in the student lot.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Gray's Creek High School student was arrested Wednesday for bringing a gun on school property.

School officials called the Cumberland County Sheriff after getting a tip about a weapon.

Darnell Handley Jr., 17, of 6976 Parkton Road, was arrested at 10 a.m. after Cumberland County deputies found a handgun under the seat of a black Acura parked in the student lot.

Deputies said they suspect Handley is a member of the GMC (Get Money Click) gang. He was charged with possession of a gun on educational property and taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was held on $2,000 secured bond.
