FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Cumberland County school bus driver was charged after a wreck with a dump truck Friday morning sent two students to the hospital.

Fayetteville police said the school bus rear-ended the dump truck at South Reilly Road and Bronwyn Street around 7 a.m.

Two students sustained minor injuries. One was transported to Womack Army Medical Center, and another to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The driver, who wasn't injured, was charged with failure to reduce speed.

Five special-needs students were on board the bus, police said.

It was the second wreck involving a Cumberland County school bus in two days. On Thursday, a 78-year-old woman died after the car she was riding in pulled in front of a school bus at Raeford Road and Purdue Drive.
